Nan Tien Institute is Australia’s first government accredited tertiary institution grounded in Buddhist values and wisdom. Nan Tien Institute (NTI) is the place for quality education and cultural exchange. All higher education programs delivered at Nan Tien Institute are accredited by the Australian Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA).
Postgraduate Courses:
NTI currently offers six post graduate courses through its Faculty of Humanities and new Faculty of Health. These are Master of Arts (1.Applied Buddhist Studies 2.Health and Social Wellbeing); Graduate Diploma (3.Applied Buddhist Studies 4.Health and Social Wellbeing); and Graduate Certificate (5.Applied Buddhist Studies 6.Health and Social Wellbeing).
Students completing a NTI Applied Buddhist Studies or Health and Social Wellbeing qualification set themselves up with a unique professional and personal edge.

NTI’s Applied Buddhist Studies programme brings together the academic study of Buddhism—based on contemporary research and scholarly perspectives—with the practical use of those teachings, particularly the study and practice of Buddhist meditation (including mindfulness).
The programme is an MA-level qualification by course work with a research component chosen from a range of areas ranging from Buddhist history and philosophy to meditation practice.
Students gain knowledge of and insight into Buddhist teachings and practices which are linked directly to issues and concerns in contemporary society.
The program is organised in three levels which can be taken together or as separate stages towards the Master of Arts - Applied Buddhist Studies.

The postgraduate Health and Social Wellbeing courses prepare Graduates to promote health and wellness in their own lives and in the lives of other individuals and groups in the broader community. The knowledge, insights, and practical skills gained in these courses are highly relevant to community development and the helping professions, such as counselling, social work, community health, aged care management, health promotion and health services - as well as advancement of staff health and wellbeing in the corporate and not-for-profit sector.
