Margan Restaurant is based in the beautiful Broke Fordwich wine sub-region of the Hunter Valley and offers guests a sophisticated dining experience in a charming rural setting.

It is part of the Margan Wines establishment which includes 100 hectares of vineyards, a state of the art winery and stunning rammed earth cellar door. Margan is an award winning dining destination in its own right and provides customers with a unique and complete food and wine experience, set in a tranquil rural setting.

The Restaurant’s food style is inspired by the seasons. The one acre Kitchen Garden and orchard produces up to 90% of vegetables and fruit for the seasonally inspired menus. In addition, Margan have free range chickens, Black Suffolk lambs, bee hives for fresh, unfiltered honey and olive groves for table olives. The Margan Restaurant continues with the business tag line of ‘Estate Grown and Estate Made’. As such, all menu items are freshly prepared on site, including pasta, gelati, soft cheeses, butter, small goods and bread. Additional to this, Margan chooses to source ingredients from local producers as much as possible.

We continue to build on our reputation as a leader in environmental sustainability initiatives and
Margan Restaurant is certified as a Green Table Australia Business by Restaurant & Caterers. The certification acknowledges green practices in water, waste, energy and supplies management to reduce the impact on the environment. Margan was proudly awarded the prestigious SMH Good Food Guide Sustainability Award for 2011 for outstanding practice and innovations within the food industry.
Margan Restaurant also leads the field in environmental sustainability. ”

Margan has also passed its audit for Entwine (Winemakers Federation of Australia) accreditation for Environmental Sustainability and stewardship, which makes us the first Hunter Valley Winery and Vineyard to do so. This was a year-long project and covered every aspect of the business, including the Restaurant and certification was gained after an extensive on-site audit.
The Margan fine dining restaurant is usually open as follows:

Lunch: Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Dinner: Friday & Saturday
Breakfast: Sunday 9am to 10.30am

Margan Restaurant is also open most public holiday Mondays,
however bookings are essential as opening hours may vary.
