TRL (Touch Rugby League) is non-contact Rugby League. Not only does TRL incorporate kicking, but proper rugby league play-the-balls. As a result, TRL eliminates the annoying touch tactics around quick ‘dump and runs’ and also provides a smoother and quicker game than the TAG codes.
TRL was formed back in 2005 so it hasn’t sprung up over night…but the real growth in the game has been experienced in the last 5 years. In 2016 there will be more than 50,000 participants Australia-wide.
TRL is now played in a number of areas including: Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay Region, Redlands, Wynnum, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, East Brisbane, West Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Logan, Beenleigh, the Gold Coast, Newcastle, Manly, East Sydney, Cronulla, Greater Western Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
