From a small punt in Constitution Dock, Mako Fresh Fish has outgrown this tiny facility to now be located at much bigger premises in North Hobart.
Mako Fresh Fish fully understands the impact fishing has on the environment and we do everything we can to minimise this impact by buying fish which is largely line caught or sustainably harvested. All fish is processed by us on site and managed to the highest standards. We buy only from licensed commercial fishers and this helps support the management of high demand fish, ensuring the resource is sustained well into the future.
While we specialize in local Tasmanian produce, Mako Fresh Fish also stock high quality seafood products from other parts of Australia and overseas. World’s best practice in seafood processing is the hallmark of many overseas countries and you can rest assured that sustainable farming and harvesting processes are at the forefront of our minds when we purchase our seafood stock. Our capacity to source high quality seafood from overseas is a critical consideration in our sustainability profile primarily because Australia cannot produce enough seafood to meet demand from its own population.
We all understand the importance of including fresh fish in our diets at least three times a week. This doesn’t have to translate to a great expense.
